Patterson predicts AI will 10X global output by 2036, stranding quadrillions in assets
davidpattersonx · x · 2026-09-17
David Patterson argues AI and robots will transform the economy dramatically: over the next decade, infrastructure worth quadrillions of dollars — office buildings, subways, inadequate housing — will be abandoned as stranded assets. That will be fine, he says, because AI and robots will produce at least $2 quadrillion of output per year by 2036, up from current global economic output of about $200 trillion — a 10X increase in 10 years.
