During surgery at UCLH in London, software analyzed the live surgical video feed in real time, flagging critical structures packed into millimeters of space at the base of Rhys Hibbert's brain, whose sight was threatened by an 11cm tumor. He woke up seeing clearly and walked unaided within a week. UCLH says the first trial patient proves the system works inside an operation.
