Numerical string amplitudes via Kontsevich ribbon graphs: human-written paper hits arXiv

Researchers introduce a numerical method for computing string amplitudes at any genus, with a human-written paper going to arXiv and an open-source repo, string-amplitudes.
- Core idea: use Kontsevich's ribbon graph parameterization of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces. The two-step procedure computes (1) correlation functions on a given Riemann surface, then (2) integrates over the moduli space of conformally inequivalent surfaces.
- Current state: supports generating combinatorial and holomorphic data for one-face ribbon graphs (vertex operators) and computing the critical bosonic string integrand. Results for genus two and three agree with the known Igusa cusp form expression.
- Roadmap: support for other CFTs (Liouville, superstring) and integration in user-chosen moduli space coordinates.
