TMLR has tightened desk-rejection policies due to a deluge of submissions and limited reviewer capacity. An experiment showed AI can coach rejected authors through revisions in two turns, so co-EiC Nihar Shah reached out to 10 authors of papers slated for desk reject to quiz them on their own submissions — one commenter suggests running the same test on accepted-paper authors as a control group.
