NewsMCP launches: a keyless MCP server serving deduplicated news events to agents

The NewsMCP team launched an MCP server that gives agents live news as deduplicated story events rather than article links: agents can search current events, expand a story to its sources, and check whether a claim is corroborated or just reprinted.

Setup: point any MCP client at https://mcp.newsmcp.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, stateless, no handshake), or one line in Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http newsmcp https://mcp.newsmcp.com/mcp. Keyless, no signup.

Usage: the best workflow skips keywords — 59 typed event families (e.g. deals.mergeracquisition, funding.venturefundinground) across 31 sectors let you pull typed digests. Entity search like subject: "Tesla" widens the time window; Wikidata IDs planned for disambiguation. Caveats: matching runs on their generated text plus actor names only, and search is boolean/literal with no semantic search.

Quotas: keyless gets 20 calls/hour, 7-day lookback, 20 stories/call; a free key raises it to 50/hour, 14 days, 50 stories.
