What is luxury? Omoju Miller asks where human code comprehension fits in the agentic era

Omoju Miller, who helped usher in machine-written code, publishes a long essay starting from a luxury-shopping trip in Madrid. She uses Claude to iteratively dissect the definition of "luxury" — expensive isn't it, nor is "the visible presence of the unnecessary," "sacrifice made legible," or "what most can't have."
The essay eventually lands on software: with agents unbundling the comprehension of code from its production, we need a new place for human understanding of code — a warning that carries extra weight coming from someone who helped build the thing.
