Ex-HRT quant: LLM agents now let average CS grads do elite quant research

A former Hudson River Trading quant reflected that in 2022 HRT was arguably the best place to do research out of undergrad, and people debated whether the average CS grad could ever research at the level of an HRT quant. Thanks to LLM agents, they argue, "that future is now" — though few understand the implications yet — and would advise 2026 job-seekers to join @quadrillionlabs.
The tweet quotes the Breakout List, a curated list of 92 startups including the 20 with 25 or fewer employees, such as Hone, Normal, Standard Intelligence, Tacit Labs and others.
