Former Waymo CFO Elisa de Martel joins self-driving startup Wayve

Elisa de Martel, who served as CFO of Alphabet's Waymo from 2022 to January 2026, has joined self-driving startup Wayve as CFO, based in Sunnyvale. Outgoing CFO Max Warburton moves into a strategic advisory role.
- During her Waymo tenure, the company began commercial operations in multiple cities and raised a $5.6B Series C led by its parent, pushing valuation above $45B.
- She previously was CFO at 3D-printing company Carbon and spent 11 years at Apple in manufacturing finance.
- The hire comes as Wayve transitions from development to deploying its automated driving tech on two fronts: robotaxis and passenger vehicles.
