A Stanford team led by Sergiu P. Pașca and Kevin W. Kelley published in Nature a landmark 'developmental xenocortication' study: human stem-cell-derived organoids transplanted into mice grow to occupy most of the mouse cortex. Authors include Karl Deisseroth. The work addresses the inaccessibility of human brain tissue by using human-derived neural models to study human brain development and function.
