Dahlia: open-source Python library lets AI agents drive SOLIDWORKS for CAD work

coincidentdata released Dahlia, an open-source Python library for interacting with industrial CAD software, starting with SOLIDWORKS, arguing frontier models are getting good at CAD but existing APIs are buggy and unintuitive. It supports creating/editing parts, assembling with mates, geometry inspection, and exporting native CAD, STEP, STL and images. Requires Windows x64, SOLIDWORKS 2026, Python 3.12 and a companion add-in; ships with examples and an AGENTS.md aimed at agentic use.
