Mitchell Hashimoto's 'whiteboard defense' sets the bar for responsible AI coding

Mitchell Hashimoto (HashiCorp co-founder) proposed the "whiteboard defense" as his benchmark for responsible AI usage in engineering:
- You should be able to explain any customer-facing system you shipped at any moment: how it works and why decisions were made.
- Line-level familiarity, exact function names, or implementation details aren't required.
- But you must confidently answer: "why X instead of Y?", "what if this actor behaves maliciously?", "what data structure and why?", "where does it fail?"
PoCs, demos and experiments are exempt. Multiple engineers publicly cosigned the take.
