Baseten launches safety infrastructure for open models with Hugging Face and Goodfire

Baseten and its research arm Base Labs announced safety infrastructure for open-weight models, arguing openness is an advantage for AI safety: it offers more visibility into model behavior and better means of turning safety research into actionable, transparent controls than closed-source. Base Labs will develop and publish methods for training and monitoring open models, while Baseten integrates them into deployment infrastructure at runtime as a managed service. The effort partners with Hugging Face and Goodfire and invites community contributions.
