Viral "audit" accuses Anthropic of regulatory capture via METR, experts push back

kevinnbass published a self-described audit of Anthropic's finances alleging a "regulatory capture machine": Dario Amodei proposed METR as third-party risk evaluator while METR's finances allegedly depend on Anthropic's $7B+ stock growth, and he calls for a Congressional investigation.
leilavclark pushed back: METR, though part of the EA ecosystem, has taken care not to take lab or CG funding, and the RAND connection is tenuous. The accusation is poorly researched even if Anthropic has fair criticisms elsewhere.
