BackOps raises $42M Series B to become the AI resolution layer for the physical economy

BackOps announced a $42M Series B led by Insight Partners, with Theory Ventures, Construct Capital, Gradient Ventures and 10VC participating — just six months after its $26M Series A and 18 months after its pre-seed. The company is also shortening its name from BackOps AI to BackOps.

Strategically, BackOps is moving beyond automating individual fulfillment-center tasks toward a "resolution layer" across the fragmented systems (ERPs, WMSs, TMSs, CRMs, carrier portals, email, spreadsheets) running the physical economy: understanding context, making decisions, taking action, and learning from outcomes. It calls the distance between identifying what needs to happen and achieving it the "Resolution Gap."

Customer claims include one scaling claims volume 150x without new hires and reaching 99% automated resolution, and another cutting a 28-hour billing process to 14 minutes. The flywheel: more resolutions → more proprietary operational data → better intelligence → better outcomes.
