Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's essay "We Must Pace the Frontier" argues leading AI firms should commit to "embedded third-party evaluators" from nonprofit METR, granted "employee-like access" to oversee safety of advanced models. VC Bill Gurley sharply pushed back: "Let's not empower the same group that brought us Sam Bankman-Fried," targeting the EA-adjacent circles behind the proposal.
