Celesto Goes Open Source: A Safe, Persistent Virtual Computer for AI Agents

aniketmaurya · x · 2026-09-16

The CelestoAI team took to X to promote stars for their open-source GitHub project Celesto, which has already earned 931 stars. Celesto is designed to give AI agents a safe, persistent computing environment: its core, SmolVM, assigns each agent a dedicated virtual machine. Built on top of it, OpenMuse is an open-source "computer co-worker" that can browse the web, operate apps, and keep working in the background even after your laptop shuts down. The repository includes modules such as the microvm kernel, guest-agent, and skills configuration, aimed at building your own agent workbench.
