Philosopher builds AI Socratic dialogue site for classic thought experiments
_akpiper · x · 2026-09-16
Philosopher @NatHansen launched ux-phi.com, a site where AI guides users through Socratic dialogues about canonical philosophical thought experiments.
Unlike a static questionnaire that records your first answer, the "Socratic questionnaire" asks you to make a judgment, then probes your reasoning under pressure to see how your position holds up. The method is described in Hansen, Francis & Greening's 2024 paper in Oxford Studies in Experimental Philosophy.
Playable experiments include the Trolley Problem, Gettier Cases, the Side-Effect Effect, and Mary the Color Scientist. The retweeter tried it and found it genuinely helps users think through the questions.
