Cryptographer Matthew Green criticizes Apple's Reference Image provenance system as highly fragile: with millions of cameras, if only a small number are compromised, fakers can forge unlimited signed photos into the commons. For the journalist use case, revocation is hard when you can't tell which camera signed a fake. He sees real value only in low-value daily use.
