Google launches Gemini 3.8 Live: voice AI that chats, thinks and runs tools in parallel

Google DeepMind released Gemini 3.8 Live and Live Extended Thinking, its most advanced real-time voice models. Extended Thinking tops Artificial Analysis at 82.6, speaks and reasons while running background tool calls, auto-switches across 97 languages mid-conversation, and scores 68.6% on τ-Voice. The launch deflates a week of 'RSI' speculation.
