A thread shared by the Slavov lab reports that single-cell mass spectrometry via plexDIA quantified more protein-coding gene products per cell than RNA-based measurements, with substantially higher data completeness. The consistency and quantification accuracy now make it possible to ask a challenging question: how do gene products co-vary from cell to cell within the same cell type?
