Indie dev rebuilds game audio with ElevenLabs Old English dialogue and overhauls UI and textures
tomjohndesign · x · 2026-09-16
Indie developer tomjohndesign published Pilgrimage devblog #4: he used ElevenLabs to generate character dialogue plus bespoke mixing tools for authentic Old English pronunciation per character, and added environment sounds (trees, wind, water, carts, animals), with crowd sounds still in progress. He also redesigned the entire app UI on shared components — migrating to baseui, swapping icons, redoing docs and internal tooling, adding light/dark mode — and redid all textures with dithering, better shadows, floor noise and lighting, delivering actual performance improvements.
