Daniel Kokotajlo shared a public statement from Dan Selsam, a current OpenAI capabilities researcher (since 2022), who has no Twitter account and asked others to share his formal views on AI risk.
- Selsam has 15+ years in AI: early probabilistic programming work at MIT, one of the early developers of the Lean Theorem Prover at Microsoft Research, one of the first demos of neural networks learning to reason in his Stanford PhD, and 5 years at OpenAI pioneering chain-of-thought optimization.
- A serving capabilities researcher publicly and systematically stating his AI-risk position is drawing attention across the alignment community.
