Lily Ray: LLMs cut publishing costs to near zero, threatening search quality
lilyraynyc · x · 2026-09-16
SEO expert Lily Ray argues that the marginal cost of publishing is one of the last barriers protecting a healthy search index: paying humans for high-effort pages generally yields better content. Programmatic pages already lowered that cost, and with LLMs it is now virtually zero, flooding search with low-quality pages. Her point: the problem isn't LLM usage itself, but the quality of the resulting pages.
