New study: companies adopting AI hire MORE entry-level workers, not fewer

Noah Smith's Labor Day post argues AI keeps refusing to kill jobs: despite polls (Pew, Ipsos) showing most Americans expect AI to replace rather than complement labor, aggregate labor market remains healthy, and a recent study by Kharazian et al. finds companies adopting AI more end up hiring MORE entry-level workers.

Quoting DK Thomp's summary of the "is AI taking young people's jobs?" debate: skeptics see mild displacement, Amodei sees near-certain displacement, EIG says it's not happening, Stanford economists say it is, economic critics find the Stanford evidence weak, and Census data suggests it may indeed be happening. Smith shares this to add firm-level counter-evidence against the displacement narrative.
