Responding to a discussion of AI audit orgs, Inioluwa Deborah Raji points out that beyond startups, traditional consultancies like McKinsey and Deloitte run AI audit teams, and civil society groups like ACLU, CDT and Data & Society use similar empirical methods. She cites her co-authored paper "AI Auditing: The Broken Bus on the Road to AI Accountability" (SaTML 2024), which taxonomizes audit practices across regulators, law firms, journalism, academia and consulting, finding only a subset translate into real accountability outcomes.
