Responding to Bryan Cantrill's mockery, JMannhart argues that the belief AI could kill all humans isn't a fringe weird belief: around 20% (probably more) of people working on frontier AI tech hold it, making it "a very weird field" unlike any other. He says dismissing the argument because only "weird" people make it is unfair.
