Maybe human intelligence is near the ceiling of stability evolution allows

A speculative thread: human intelligence may already sit near the maximum level that stays stable under evolutionary constraints. Animals focused on survival have no room for existential confusion, but once a mind can examine its own goals it can also undermine them — the same trait that gives us science and art. So we shouldn't assume a vastly smarter entity is automatically rational and stable; it may face a far larger space of thoughts and internal conflicts, requiring increasingly sophisticated mechanisms to stay coherent.
