Text-only AI agent beats Doom at ~10 calls/sec, costing about $7 per hour
hackgoofer · x · 2026-09-16
Developer hackgoofer demonstrated an AI agent playing Doom with no visual input: the game state is represented entirely as text, and the agent takes the right actions to hit the given objective based on those descriptions.
The setup runs about 10 inference calls per second, which works out to roughly $7/hour. The author joked that P(doom) = 100% — the probability of playing the Doom game.
