Polymarket gives Sam Altman just 5% odds of signing AI-slowdown statement

Polymarket has opened a market on whether Sam Altman signs the "Pacing the Frontier" statement by Sep 30, 2026, currently priced at just 5% Yes (94.5% No).
The statement, published in July 2026 by 1,300+ frontier lab employees, calls on the US government to back international tooling to pace automated AI development. Altman has not signed and shows no sign of doing so.
Meanwhile, Michael Burry accused OpenAI & Anthropic of pushing calls to slow AI development because "slowing benefits incumbents" — adding fuel to the debate over whether frontier-lab safety advocacy doubles as moat-building.
