PhAI Labs launches DFM scientist program with ScienceBuddy, ScienceIDE and JEPA-Anything for AI-driven discovery

PhAI Labs has launched its DFM (Discovery Foundation Models) Scientist Collaboration Program, recruiting real scientific problems, data, and experimental feedback from researchers in life sciences, biomedicine, chemistry, and materials to push AI from assisting research toward participating in discovery.
- DFM: not a single model but a research paradigm that formalizes 'discovery' as a learnable, executable, evaluable model-system capability
- ScienceBuddy (Sep 16): an interactive scientific agent that evolves its harness through scientists' follow-ups, adoptions, and rejections
- ScienceIDE (Sep 17): turns real scientific code, workflows, and validation criteria into runnable, reproducible environments for agent execution, training, and RL
- JEPA-Anything (Sep 18): a unified scientific world model for cross-domain state prediction and intervention simulation across vision, biology, clinical, molecular, and physics settings
The three modules are independent but designed to compose into a recursive discovery loop. Site and GitHub are open; the first cohort focuses on life sciences.
