Agent ditches slow, rate-limited Slack API for computer use — and scrolls faster than the API

The author complains that Slack's API is painfully slow and rate-limited — clearly not built for agents. When asked to search a huge Slack channel, Codex/Astra hit an auth failure and simply fell back to computer use, scrolling through the Slack UI directly — and it was faster than the API.

The takeaway: agents won't wait for APIs. When screen interaction outperforms official integrations, the API-first assumption behind tool ecosystems may be up for reconsideration.
