Google launches Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking with 97-language real-time voice
GoogleAI · x · 2026-09-16
Google AI officially introduced its most advanced conversational audio models yet: Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking.
- 3.8 Live targets scale, speed, and cost efficiency: it handles mid-sentence interruptions, switches across 97 languages on the fly, and understands visual context. A demo shows Search Live giving step-by-step audio repair guidance when you point your camera at a leaky pipe or broken bike chain.
- 3.8 Live Extended Thinking adds more intelligence for complex tasks: it reasons and speaks in parallel, narrating its progress while working on multi-step background projects like event planning, without breaking conversational flow.
Both models are available now in Gemini Live in the Gemini App, with developer access via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.
