Mollick Shows Off a One-Shot AI-Built Fighting Game Starring Painter Knights

Ethan Mollick shared a pixel-art fighting game, "Brush & Blade — The Painted Tournament," generated in one shot by AI, with a playable link. He calls it fine, with the rough edges you expect from a one-shot.

The game features eight pixel-art knights inspired by artists such as Klimt, Rothko, O'Keefe and Hokusai, each with signature moves (Klimt's Mosaic Rush, Hokusai's Great Wave). It is a duel of distance and timing, best of two rounds, with health, stamina and guard bars; heavy attacks hit harder but leave you exposed, and there are guard, dodge and a special costing 60% meter, plus solo, local duel, watch-AI and gallery-run modes. Mollick uses it to argue you can't say AI doesn't exercise types of judgement and creativity, even if not the same as ours.
