Jensen Huang Calls 10% AI Extinction Risk 'Made Up' and Slams 'Stupid Predictions'

Asked how to explain a "10% chance of extinction" to a normal person, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said you shouldn't try, because the number is made up—arguing that the credentials of "researchers" make such predictions alarming when they shouldn't be made at all, calling it irresponsible. He listed failed predictions: AI fully replacing radiologists within five years (the opposite happened), 90% of code generated by AI in 6-12 months, and 50% of entry-level jobs wiped out. "We have to take account for all of the stupid predictions that were made," he said.
