Jon Barron decodes non-Gaussian 3D scene representation: spheres bound each texel

Google researcher Jon Barron clarified how walls are represented in a 3D scene demo discussed with a16z's Martin Casado: the scene doesn't use Gaussians — each texel gets circumscribed by a sphere, and the circular splats of each sphere flesh out the pixel's area plus a bit extra, producing the pixel-shaped texture maps visible on walls. Ashkan Mirzaei pointed to the 0:17 mark of the video where the blob-based wall representation is clearly visible.
