The author argues humanity no longer builds glorious lasting buildings because we are entering the singularity, where terms like "human" and "buildings" will cease to register. Whatever AGI ecosystems do with Earth's atoms will be as far beyond our conception as a dung beetle's understanding of New York City. He dismisses visions of unchanged "pockets of normal-ness" post-singularity as coping, saying our only hope is participating in accelerating change and adaptation.
