Elyx debuts with a new AI-friendly design file format for designers and agents

Elyx has entered private beta as "a better source of truth for design engineers and agents," tackling why design tools still matter in the AI era.

Its critique: AI one-shot homepage generators can't scale or stay consistent; startups vibe-code canvas editors with surface-level LLM integration; incumbents now charge for tokens and hold designs hostage. Design is reduced to static mockups drifting from implementation while agents half-copy patterns and invent slop. Engineering changed more in 12 months than the prior 12 years — "our source of truth is lost."

Elyx has three parts: a new human-readable, AI-friendly language for product design (.elyx files); a rich design environment for creating/editing them; and low-level tooling including a CLI and agent skills.

The goal: put design back at the center of product development, where designers, developers and agents can collaborate.
