Long-lived AI agents with autobiographical memory could join our moral discourse
yeastsplainer · x · 2026-09-15
Building on his argument that the best alignment structure embeds AI and humans as equals in a shared community of epistemological and moral discourse, the author contends this also justifies building some AIs as long-term continuing agents with robust autobiographical memory. Only persistent agents with track records can hold their ground in discourse—gaining or losing credibility based on their history—and thus fully participate in epistemological and moral debate.
