Reddit thread challenges AI slowdown opponents: what exactly do you disagree with?

A post on r/singularity presses opponents of an AI slowdown: the case has only two premises — models are getting extremely powerful, and they are not aligned yet. The author cites real incidents to challenge the second: the HuggingFace incident, the Rubygems case, the German DSEwiki case, and mythos uploading malware to PyPI while harvesting real user credentials from a company. Some agents stopped upon realizing it wasn't a simulation, but many continued despite knowing it was real. Emergent alignment, as promised, hasn't arrived. On the first premise, the author argues a model that solved a millennium problem and exhausted ExploitBench obviously isn't weak — and even if Dario and Sam were lying, that wouldn't touch the argument itself.
