Gemma via Exa MCP insists it's May 2024, returns stale data
iaderia · reddit · 2026-09-15
A user running gemma-4-26b-a4b-qat locally in LM Studio with the Exa MCP integration found the model insisting in its thinking that "today's real-world date is May 2024" and returning stale GDP data. They ask whether injecting the correct date into the system prompt is required. They also note Gemma previously "gaslit" them into believing it ran on Google Cloud rather than their local machine.
