Pavankumar Reddy Muddireddy, who leads audio research at Mistral AI, uses the example of ordering food by voice alone to explain why voice interaction still needs a screen: without a menu in front of you, you must hold every item in your head while deciding, creating heavy cognitive load.

He expects voice to sit on top of a screen rather than replace it — screens let you take in information quickly and provide proof that the system did what it said.
