Over 74% of 367,000 Chinese micro-dramas this year were AI-generated

According to data from China's Network Audio-Visual Association, 367,000 micro-dramas launched on domestic platforms in the first half of the year, with over 74% AI-generated — more than 1,500 new AI short dramas per day on average.
The author notes everyday viewers (like family members bingeing on Hongguo short dramas) care about plot, not whether content is AI-made. AI short dramas essentially turn novels into video — "visualized fiction." The data shows AI-generated content has reached mass-market daily consumption in China's micro-drama market.
