Elliot Murphy's arXiv paper Formal Properties of Language as Constraints on Neural Dynamics introduces the Neural Admissibility Program (NAP): algebraic properties of language—non-associative hierarchical grouping, commutativity, recursive closure, substructure access, and structured workspace transitions—define invariants that any neural mechanism implementing language must preserve, rather than relying only on stimulus annotations and neural prediction.
