GitHub issue calls out Copilot CLI subagent latency: minutes per review round trip

tjgreen42 · ghdev · 2026-09-15

A developer filed GitHub issue #4849 on copilot-cli arguing that subagent-driven implement-and-review workflows are painfully slow: agent startup, task handoffs, and repeated review/fix/re-review cycles take minutes per round trip, dragging out even modest changes. Proposed fixes include faster subagent startup, context reuse across fix/review rounds, collapsing redundant review passes, and clearer elapsed-time indicators. The issue targets end-to-end latency and serial agent round trips, not answer quality (tested on Copilot CLI 1.0.83).
