Critics say "Responsible Scaling Policies" is now "Pacing the Frontier" — same old evals

Gabecc argues the AI industry's safety playbook has been rebranded from "Responsible Scaling Policies" (2023) to "Pacing the Frontier," but remains lots of evals plus maybe-forced transparency. He contends it was designed to look respectable while ignoring near-term risks like recent misalignment episodes, superintelligence and open source: "today's near-term risks are yesterday's long-term ones." Cambridge researcher David Krueger amplified the critique.
