Economist Andrey Fradkin summarizes the "Cambridge, MA view" of AI economics, particularly Acemoglu's, admitting he finds it unconvincing but useful to lay out: ideology steers too much capital and talent toward AGI-pilled companies; they overinvest in general models and underinvest in applications and diffusion; pro-worker AI that creates new tasks and raises the value of human expertise is feasible if we know which directions increase labor demand; correcting beliefs and incentives that favor automation is key to the fix.
