A civil engineering student in Melbourne has released what he believes is the first open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for FirstRate5, letting LLMs interact with the core Australian software for residential energy ratings (NatHERS compliance).

The project aims to bridge industry-standard building software with emerging AI workflows and is open for testing and code review on GitHub. The author is also using the post to look for a structural engineering internship in Melbourne.
