AI safety insider: labs' accelerate-to-control camp is the weirder, often anti-human one

The author argues there are essentially two camps within EA and AI safety: the "pause" or "ban superintelligence" camp is the pro-human and less weird one, while the labs themselves sit in the "accelerate so we can control the process according to our values" camp. That camp contains almost all the "worthy successor" and utilitarian framing. Some accelerators just want to stay in control so they can hear when everyone else yells "Stop!" — which, the author notes, is basically now.
