Fruit fly brain mines Bitcoin: 2,914 neurons run SHA-256 at potential 10x ASIC efficiency

FutureBit unveiled HashFly, an experimental Bitcoin miner built on a reconstructed fruit fly brain using 2,914 real neuron connections to run SHA-256. The team claims scaling with actual organic neurons could theoretically achieve 1 W/TH hashing — roughly 10x more energy efficient than leading 3nm silicon ASICs. Still an experiment, but biologically inspired mining is now a thing.
