Responding to AI slowdown/pausing debates, AI ethics researcher Margaret Mitchell argues that calling to slow down "AI" bakes in a particular vision of the technology. Instead, she says we should reassess priorities: less "GenAI autonomous agents without oversight," more "discriminative cancer screening technology."
